Cold Flashes May Be Triggered by Hormones

The hypothalamus is located in the brain and it’s responsible for regulating a person’s temperature. If hormones are not in sync, the hypothalamus may not do its job properly, resulting in cold flashes.

During an anxiety or panic attack, the body’s fight or flight response is activated, leading to symptoms such as feeling cold, trembling, nausea, or breathing difficulties. Menopause can also play a role and cause cold flashes, albeit not as commonly as hot flashes. Cold flashes accompanied by migraines, irritability, or unusual weight gain also serve as menopause indicators.

If you’re experiencing cold flashes, it could be that your hormone levels are off or you’re experiencing stress. If the former is the case, bioidentical hormone therapy may help restore hormones to the optimum levels.
