Could Botox Be Used to Treat Depression?

Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California – San Diego researchers have examined the effects of Botox using data from more than 35,000 people.

The researchers examined, using statistical calculations if the participants underwent deviations from the anticipated average depressive symptoms. For eight distinct factors and at different injection sites, including the forehead, stomach, and limbs, the findings covered treatment with Botox. In six of the eight illness and injection sites, individuals administered with Botox reported depression 40 to 88 percent less often versus the control group, according to the study team.

Plenty of research still needs to be done regarding, but if the results continue in this direction, Botox may prove to be more than an increasingly adopted cosmetic procedure with physical results.
