Hormone Therapy May Help with UTI Prevention

A common issue that arises from menopause is urinary tract infection (UTI) which may affect any part of the urinary system but typically the urethra and bladder. Some recent research is showing signs that hormone replacement therapy may help with preventing them.

The study involved urine samples from more than seventy women divided into a trio of groups including those that had never experienced a UTI. Scientists began by determining whether a certain bacteria may correlate with the chances of developing a UTI.

A second study evaluated over thirty women that were undergoing hormone therapy to deal with their menopause. The results of the study showed the presence of a beneficial bacteria known as Lactobacillus which may help in strengthening the body’s resistance in becoming infected with a UTI.

As is often the case, the results are preliminary yet fascinating. Should you wish to delve deeper into the research, check out the source article at the following link: https://www.everydayhealth.com/urinary-tract-infection/hormone-therapy-may-prevent-utis-in-postmenopausal-women/.
