The Unwelcome Arrival of Hot Flashes

Although hot flashes aren’t associated with danger, they’re undesirable. They usually involve a sudden feeling of heat near the upper body that spreads into the arms, the neck, and the face and may cause a “flushed” appearance. They can stick around for thirty seconds to several minutes. The duration of such hot flashes is wildly variable. The body may try to cool off after the hot flash, which can lead to symptoms like shivering or feeling cold.

The fluctuating estrogen levels are a possible reason resulting in hot flashes because they cause changes in the dilation of the blood vessels. They can also be caused by the arrival of menopause and symptoms like pain and aches, vaginal dryness, and insomnia are often noticeable.

When hot flashes seem to occur too often, the body may lack the proper levels of estrogen. Hormone replacement therapy can be a way to relieve the symptoms, and we’d be happy to help you with that.
