LidLift™ - Blepharoplasty Q & A

Why should I consider a blepharoplasty?

Bright, wide-open eyes contribute to a beautiful, expressive face. As you get older, the area above your eyes tends to get puffier, and the skin grows lax, creating a tired, aged appearance.

Skin and fat can also start to accumulate in both upper and lower lids, which also affects the brightness of your eyes. You may also see dark circles underneath your eyes as you lose subcutaneous fat.

Blepharoplasty aims to correct these issues by removing excess skin and fat while filling in dark, sunken, under-eye circles.

What should I expect during a blepharoplasty?

LidLift™ blepharoplasty is usually performed under local anesthesia and mild sedation using the Tempsure Surgical device. This innovative procedure affords patients with minimal scarring and faster recovery times.

Dr. Martinez-Noda removes excess skin and fat from the upper lid, lower lid, or both. He can also correct all four eyelids in one procedure. Excess fat may be relocated to another area to improve the look of dark circles.

What is it like to recover from a blepharoplasty?

You’ll need to schedule a ride home from your blepharoplasty procedure. If you had an RF procedure on both sets of eyelids, you could need help at home for a few days as you recover. Dr. Martinez-Noda can help schedule this service for you if necessary.

You’ll need to take several days off work, but the worst of the discoloration and swelling resolves within 1-2 weeks. For the first 48 hours following the procedure, you’ll apply cold compresses to the area regularly to aid in healing and resolve the discomfort.

It’s not uncommon to experience light sensitivity and eye dryness following surgery. However, some people experience excessive tearing instead.

You will have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Martinez-Noda to have any stitches removed. At this point, you can apply makeup to cover any remaining discoloration. Avoid sun exposure for several weeks as the UV rays can cause permanent discoloration in the bruised areas.
